A family of four searched New Orleans for a yard on four sides, off-street parking, space for a pool, and room to grow. They found it in a pre-1895 center-hall cottage in Milan, one that a 1970s renovation had stripped of its trim, its entry, and its center hall. OFFICE La restored the home’s central axis. The team returned the dining room to its bay window and moved the kitchen into a sunlit front corner room. There, custom green-stained white oak cabinets meet soft pink tile, and tall windows open onto the garden. Simple, typical New Orleans trim lets the house’s proportions take the lead.
